VINELAND, NJ (June 2011) – Stanker & Galetto, a leading general contracting firm in southern New Jersey, completed construction and renovations at the Landis MarketPlace in Vineland. The market encompasses over 30,000 square feet of retail space on two levels.
"We are proud to have been a part of this project," said Peter Galetto Jr., President of Stanker & Galetto. "We agree the MarketPlace will be a destination for people from throughout the South Jersey area. It has been rewarding to watch the transformation from an aging facility into a shopping experience unique to this area."
Taking apart an old building presented particular challenges, including working with a slab system estimated to be about 70 years old. Structurally, the old construction required bracing to support the existing structure to execute the demolition and reconfigure the space. Construction at the back of the building included a new retail entrance as well as a loading dock and a trash compactor.
The indoor market features an Amish market on the first level, selling farm-fresh meats, produce, cheeses, baked goods, candies and jellies, and more, in kiosks spread out across the 18,000-square-foot space. Four local merchants sell food, flowers, and spices on the upper level, with more vendors expected over the first year of operation.
